With eleven years of experience as a dedicated public school educator—seven in special education and four in general education—I bring a deep understanding of both the classroom and the systems that support students with disabilities. My career has been shaped by a passion for equity, strong collaboration with families, and a commitment to ensuring every child receives the services and support they deserve.
Throughout my time in education, I’ve gained extensive expertise in IEP development, parent collaboration, educational testing, report writing, and eligibility determination. I've participated in countless IEP meetings in nearly every role—general education teacher, special education teacher, and now as a Special Education Surrogate Parent—giving me a unique, 360° perspective on the process and the challenges families face.
To strengthen my impact beyond the classroom, I completed The Arc@School’s Special Education Advocacy Curriculum, equipping me with a deeper understanding of legal rights, procedural safeguards, and effective advocacy strategies. I’m now channeling my experience into special education advocacy, helping families navigate a complex system and secure the services their children are entitled to.
